EXPLOSIVE gypsy flamenco dancer Jairo Barrull and company will make their UK debut at the Chelmsford Civic Theatre next week.
The show is called Barrull, A Flamenco Legacy, and it reflects Jairo's gypsy flamenco upbringing and his unique style of footwork.
The flamboyant dancer has dazzled audiences across the world, gaining plaudits from New York to Berlin, and he has chosen Chelmsford as the stage to springboard himself towards UK fame.
Jairo was born in Seville, Spain, and has been performing since he was seven years old.
His family is renowned as Los Negros de Ronda, whose artistic legacy stems back to the 18th century.
Jairo's father Ramón Barrull pioneered gypsy flamenco dancing in the late 1970s and Jairo has since adapted and extended it into his own style.
When he was just 13, Jairo performed at the Vatican for the Pope, John Paul II.
Jairo has starred in the internationally screened flamenco documentary Around The Streets of New York, when performing on Broadway with a flamenco troupe when he was 15 years old.
Jairo is now 29 and to tell the story of his artistic heritage that has evolved during seven generations by way of gypsy flamenco dance forms, he will be joined by first class gypsy musicians from Andalucía who also have their own gypsy flamenco legacies.
Tickets are £15 with concessions £13 for the event, which takes place at 7.45pm on Friday, June 29.
