Pensioner's arm fractured in Basildon bus stop assault

A pensioner has been assaulted at a bus stop in Basildon and police are appealing for witnesses.

The 69-year-old victim was assaulted on October 18 at around 3pm and suffered a fracture to his upper arm.

The incident involved an argument which occurred near to the fish and chip shop which is close to the entrance of the Eastgate Centre.

The altercation would have been witnessed by several people, several of whom then came to the aid of the injured man and police urgently need to speak to these people.

A 57 year old man from Basildon was arrested and later released on police bail until November 20 while police continue their investigation.

Any witnesses are asked to contact Pc Liam Harvey at Basildon Police station on 101.
