A 25-YEAR-OLD man fought off two attackers intent on stealing his wallet in a night time attempted robbery in Billericay.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the attack, which took place in Queens Park Avenue shortly before 10pm, on Sunday, June 3.

The victim was walking along the road when a car pulled up and its two occupants got out and demanded that he hand over his wallet.

The man refused and a fight followed, with the victim fending off the attackers, who returned to their car and drove off empty-handed.

Investigating officer DC Sean Judge said: "This assault took place at the junction with Montague Way.

"Queens Park Avenue is one of the key roads going through Billericay so we're fairly confident it would have been busy, even on a Sunday night.

"We're looking to speak to those people who were out and about and saw this fracas on the roadside."

The assailants are described as white and aged in their late teens.

One was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a grey top while his accomplice was wearing jeans and a dark hoodie.

The car was a dark, five-door Ford saloon.

The victim sustained cuts and bruises, but did not require any medical treatment.

Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives at Basildon police station on 101.
