A MEETING on admission arrangements for the proposed Becket Keys free school will take place tonight (Wednesday).

The meeting, at 7.45pm in the library at Sawyers Hall College, has been arranged by Educating Brentwood, a group seeking clarity about the consultation process required by law before the school can officially open in September.

Attendees can pose questions, share answers and discuss issues.

The group hopes the discussions will lead to a clearer understanding of the issues surrounding the consultation and help parents make an informed response to the consultation.

The outgoing head teacher of Sawyers Hall College, and leading figure in the South Essex University Technical College proposal, Stephen Capper, will be joining the discussion. Borough councillors from the three main parties are also set to attend.

The meeting was well attended by parents, residents, education professionals, including Graham Ranby, the Head of School Access Services for Essex County Council and local headteachers and governors from both secondary and primary schools. In addition councillors from all the main parties took part and offered their contribution to the discussions. Everyone left better informed about the concerns felt about the introduction of new schools in Brentwood and better able to respond to the consultation about the proposed Becket Keys school.
